Fresh concrete testing is one of the most important aspects of an efficient precast concrete quality control program. The results are vital to reducing variability while enhancing product quality. Inaccurate fresh concrete tests can mask issues or result in unnecessary or counterproductive adjustments. Those inaccuracies can come from simple, yet common mistakes, like using a tamping rod to strike off the concrete during a unit weight test or striking the sides of an SCC cylinder. During this session, we will go through the most common errors committed when conducting common fresh concrete tests in a precast plant. We will also explain why these seemingly minor details in testing matter. A must for any QC technicians who could use a refresher.
At the conclusion of this course, you will be able to:
- Explain the impacts of inconsistent or incorrect fresh concrete testing.
- Demonstrate proper fresh concrete testing practices.
- Describe why specific fresh concrete testing practices are so important to test results.
