GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Robert “Bob” Waterloo, technical sales manager at Hill and Griffith Co. in Indianapolis, has been honored with the 2025 National Precast Concrete Association (NPCA) Robert E. Yoakum Award, the association’s highest recognition for individual achievement and leadership. The award is presented annually to an individual who plays a leading role in advancing the precast concrete industry.

Waterloo received the award Saturday, Oct. 4, during NPCA’s 60th Annual Convention in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

A 35-year veteran of Hill and Griffith, Waterloo has made an indelible mark on NPCA through his passion for industry engagement and member recruitment. He has personally recruited more than 100 NPCA members, earning multiple accolades including Top Gun recognition for new member recruitment, the Douglas G. Hoskin Award for sponsoring the most new members, NPCA’s coveted ring and the signature leather jacket.

Fondly known throughout the industry as “Captain Concrete,” Waterloo has been instrumental in growing Hill and Griffith’s precast division from a small segment into a core area of expertise. He has led numerous training sessions for production staff, authored articles for NPCA publications and presented educational programs at The Precast Show.

“Bob’s enthusiasm, professionalism and unwavering commitment to NPCA have made a lasting impact on our association and the entire precast concrete industry,” NPCA President and CEO Nick Rhoad said. “His leadership has inspired countless others to get involved, share knowledge and help shape the future of precast.”

NPCA’s highest honor, the Robert E. Yoakum Award, is named after the association’s founding leader, who in 1965 played a key role in creating NPCA. The award is presented each year at the NPCA Annual Convention to an individual who has made significant, long-term contributions to furthering NPCA’s mission and advancing the precast concrete industry.
