In December 2025, NPCA awarded eight $1,000 scholarships to concrete canoe teams across the United States. These scholarships recognize outstanding teams participating in the ASCE National Concrete Canoe Competition, where university students design, build and race canoes made of concrete. The funding helps offset materials and travel expenses teams may incur as they prepare for competition.

As part of the program, each team that applied for the scholarship was added to an NPCA EPIC Community, where students could connect with NPCA members and ask questions of one another. Several teams have already built connections with members who can provide resources, guidance and industry insight. The Foundation will continue following the teams’ progress throughout the semester.

The NPCA Foundation is also a proud annual sponsor of the ASCE National Concrete Canoe Competition. This year’s national competition will take place June 25-27 at Fairmont State University in Fairmont, West Virginia, with the final race scheduled for June 27. Display Day will be held June 25, when members of the NPCA Foundation Board of Directors and staff will promote the Foundation, the Association and the precast concrete industry while spending time meeting student teams from across the country.

Members and donors interested in seeing the impact of the scholarship program firsthand are encouraged to attend. The event offers a chance to meet the teams, observe the races and engage directly with students exploring careers connected to concrete and construction.
