The National Precast Concrete Association has joined fellow members of the North American Concrete Alliance (NACA) in signing a letter urging the U.S. Senate to swiftly pass the bipartisan Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) of 2026.
Addressed to Senate Environment and Public Works Committee Chairwoman Shelley Moore Capito and Ranking Member Sheldon Whitehouse, the letter expresses the concrete industry’s strong support for the legislation, which was approved unanimously by the committee.
The coalition emphasizes that the biennial passage of WRDA is essential for maintaining investment in the nation’s water infrastructure, including locks and dams, flood control systems, storm risk reduction projects and other critical infrastructure. The legislation also reauthorizes key U.S. Environmental Protection Agency drinking water and wastewater infrastructure programs that support communities across the country.
According to the letter, WRDA 2026 would authorize 61 feasibility studies and 15 new or modified construction projects nationwide while continuing federal support for drinking water and wastewater infrastructure improvements.
As a member of NACA, NPCA joined other concrete industry organizations in highlighting the importance of maintaining Congress’s regular two year WRDA authorization cycle. The coalition notes that predictable investment in water infrastructure allows the industry to plan, invest and help build resilient infrastructure that supports both communities and American commerce.
The letter concludes by urging Congress to move quickly to approve the legislation and continue investing in the nation’s critical water infrastructure.
