NPCA Excellence in Safety Award – Gold Level
All remaining entries not qualifying for the Platinum Level award are eligible for the Gold Level award. In the event of an incidence rate tie, all tied applicants will receive a plaque.
The Gold Award will be presented to the member company posting the best reportable-injury/illness incidence rate (IR) in each category.
NPCA Excellence in Safety Award – Silver Level
All remaining entries not qualifying for the Gold Level award are eligible for the Silver Level award. In the event of an incidence rate tie, all tied applicants will receive a plaque.
The Silver Award will be presented to the second best reportable-injury/illness incidence rate in each category.
NPCA Excellence in Safety Award – Bronze Level
All remaining entries not qualifying for the Silver Level award are eligible for the Bronze Level award. In the event of an incidence rate tie, all tied applicants will receive a plaque.
The Bronze Award will be presented to the third best reportable-injury/illness incidence rate in each category.
NPCA Safety Award – Most Improved Safety Record
All entries are eligible for this fifth award. In the event of an incidence rate tie, all tied applicants will receive a plaque.
The Most Improved Safety Record award will be presented to the entry in each category meeting all of the following criteria:
- The plant’s injury/illness incidence rate is lower than the average industry incidence rate, as published by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), and
- The plant’s injury/illness incidence rate represents the greatest percentage decrease from the previous year and
- The plant submitted an application for the previous year’s NPCA Safety Awards program.
Members who believe they may not qualify for any of the above awards are encouraged to submit applications for this year’s Safety Awards program in order to be eligible for the Most Improved category next year.
