Three U.S. states in July and August made funds available to support transportation projects, according to a report in the AASHTO Journal, opening opportunities for precast concrete product producers in those regions.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation assigned $250 million within its Corridors of Commerce program. The program, created in 2013, focuses on projects that “develop additional system capacity, improve movement for freight and reduce barriers to commerce.”

Project applications are due to the state by Nov. 30, with Minnesota DOT announcing the funding recipients in May 2023.

The Kansas Department of Transportation announced a plan on Aug. 2 to spend approximately $137.5 million on two local bridge improvement programs over the next five years. Applications for these funds are due Sept. 2.

The New Jersey Department of Transportation earmarked $161 million in fiscal year 2023 for infrastructure improvements in all of New Jersey’s 21 counties.

With focus on roads and bridges under county jurisdictions, counties can submit eligible projects to the New Jersey DOT for approval prior to Dec. 1.

All of this funding is a result of the $1.2 trillion Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act enacted in November 2021.
