An internship in the precast industry is an invaluable way to learn more about the industry, the way precast products are manufactured and the benefits they offer, and the many opportunities for employment following graduation.
NPCA Foundation Scholarship recipients are required to work a minimum of 320 hours per academic year at an NPCA member company. This requirement is for academic years two, three, and four. Whether you are an NPCA Foundation Scholarship recipient or not, if you’d like to find an internship at a precast plant near you, you can search for NPCA member companies in your area by using our member search.
If you need help from NPCA, please contact Andi Pierce.
Internships are an important component of a student’s academic and career path in today’s competitive job market. Providing precast-specific internships allows our industry to build a pipeline of savvy, precast-friendly engineers and specifiers that can positively impact our industry for decades.
The NPCA Foundation, in partnership with the Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute Foundation, has created an internship template that your company can use to help launch an internship program. The template can be customized, depending on your company’s individual needs. In addition, the NPCA Foundation and PCI Foundation created two webinars. These resources are free for NPCA members and can be viewed on the Online Learning Center.

Getting started is easy
Watch the free webinars above, read the executive summary and internship FAQ documents, and review the internship template documents below. Use what will work for your organization to create an internship position at your plant. From there, we encourage you to communicate with your intern about what is and isn’t working so you can continue to develop and evolve your internship program.
