As with any industry, integrating ethics into operations should be a top priority, and the precast industry is no different. We work in a world of conflicting interests. For the designer, owner, contractors, precasters and material suppliers, a conflict between quality and profits may exist. The precast manufacturer is responsible for supplying structures that meet or exceed project specifications. What if the contractor or your customer proposes a change to lower your product’s cost? What is the duty of the precast supplier to the quality and safety of the project? During this webinar, Henry Prenger, P.E., will draw from his long career in concrete construction to give real-life examples of ethical issues he has witnessed and how the lessons learned can apply to situations that precasters may face. He will discuss how to navigate difficult situations to protect your company’s reputation. Henry will talk about how company leaders should set the example and hold not only their team but also themselves to the highest moral code. He will give advice on how you can be better prepared to handle ethical issues in the workplace or on the job site. This is a great opportunity to hear some wise advice and remind yourself of your company’s core values.
At the conclusion of this course, you will be able to:
- Describe examples of potential breaches of ethics and potential consequences relating to precast projects.
- Explain how company leadership can best influence ethical behavior amongst all employees.
- Implement processes to strengthen your company’s ethical practices.
