NPCA is increasing its pool of potential contract instructors for technical courses relating to basic concrete principles and precast concrete manufacturing. Instructors may be contracted to present or co-present technical coursework during The Precast Show or during standalone courses such as NPCA’s Production & Quality School.
Production and Quality School
PQS Level I is currently NPCA’s baseline educational course offering. It is a two-full-day course thoroughly covering the basic body of knowledge that all employees at a precast concrete plant are required to have. Current topics include:
- Concrete Materials
- Reinforcement
- Concrete Mixes
- Batching/Mixing
- Pre-Pour Operations
- Production Practices
- Post-Pour Operations
- Metric (as needed)
- Quality Control
The course concludes with a 60+ question exam, which the students are required to pass in order to obtain a certificate of course completion.
The list of course titles instructors can be contracted to teach is endless. Consequently, candidates must include a complete list of course titles/topics they are interested in teaching. Ideal candidates will have work experience within the precast concrete (or related) industry, but consideration may also be given to university/college instructors, graduate students and others familiar with subject matter and with adult learning styles.
Become an Instructor
If you are interested in becoming an instructor for NPCA or have a course topic suggestion, please contact Kathy Ritsmon, Director of Education Programs. Submissions must include instructor biography, course description and learning objectives, and target audience.
