Outreach Coordinator
Department: Technical Services and Professional Development
Reports to: Vice President of Technical Services and Professional Development
General Summary: This position provides daily management of NPCA’s Outreach Plan including: research, tracking, support, and follow up for tradeshows and external education including: academia, students, specifiers, contractors, NPCA Affiliates, and other end-users of precast concrete. Additionally, this position supports the certification/promotion, codes and standards, and marketing segments by providing data, reporting, tracking, and contributing to Working for You blogs and articles.
Essential Duties (include but not limited to):
Outreach Support
- Provide administrative management of daily Outreach Plan projects.
- Identify and recommend educational opportunities, including live presentations and webinars, for academia, students, specifiers, and end-users of precast concrete
- Creates and maintains database of contacts through academia, schools, specifying agencies, firms and other end users of precast concrete
- Research tradeshows as provided by supervisor and create comparative documents for costs, presentation opportunities, and sponsorship options for each tradeshow
- Serve as point of contact for external education audiences and tradeshows
- Manage selection, logistics and timeline of external presentations and tradeshows including materials, agenda, booth set up, food & beverage, and lead retrieval follow up.
- Manage student registrations for external presentations and webinars
- Conduct follow up after presentations and tradeshows to all attendees and forward leads to appropriate stakeholders, including maintain lists of attendees and managing follow up
- Responsible for input of budget projections in Outreach budget based on upcoming event expenses.
- Write blogs and outreach promotion articles for Communications to publish.
- Manage specifier webinar promotion plans in conjunction with Communications Department.
Operations/Administration
- Coordinate NPCA accreditation as an AIA approved provider and with individual states as PDH provider
- Work with NPCA Affiliates to provide information on NPCA external education presentations and webinars
- Track monthly metrics on education outreach
- Track all external education attendance and maintain records for continuing education credits
- Provide external course information to the Communications Department to promote NPCA education programs
- Manage day of webinar logistics for specifier webinars
- Manage printing and shipment of materials for external presentations and webinars, and tradeshows
- Manage compilation of external course evaluations
- Create and maintain database of contacts for academia, schools, and students including student and professor membership tracking
- Provide updated contacts for specifying agencies, firms, and end-users of precast concrete to Communications for inclusion in specifier database
- Track follow up to stakeholder groups
- Travel as required to NPCA conventions, conferences and education seminars.
- Track budget items for each event
- Other duties as assigned
Relationships: Strong working relationship with NPCA staff and management team; NPCA committees; all NPCA members, affiliates, instructors, specifiers, academia and students, and a variety of other industry-related and professional organizations as necessary. Keep supervisor informed of all important actions.
Minimum qualifications and requirements:
- 4-year college degree
- Strong organizational, people, and communication skills
- Comfortable speaking and presenting to groups of up to 50 persons
- Minimum of two years’ experience in administration and support of adult learning programming
- Proficient in use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and basic understanding of database functions
Equipment: General Office Equipment: telephone, photocopy machine, fax machine, computer equipment.
Places Where Work Is Performed: This work is performed in variety of locations, including the employer’s premises and on location at NPCA and other industry-related conventions, conferences, educational offerings and committee meetings.

Industrial Control System Field Engineer

We build plants and machinery with minimum downtime, service costs, and parts costs, which is just some of the many core values our company takes pride in. All core equipment is designed and produced inhouse at Haarup’s factory in Denmark. This position is located at our North American office, in Portland, Ore.

Job Summary
In this position, you will become part of our control system engineers’ team/group who start up and service concrete plants. You will mount, start up and service dosing and batching plants in North America and maybe other markets. When you are not out in the field with customers, you will be working in our facility in Portland, Ore. The Industrial Control Engineer reports to the Director of Operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Mounting and testing of industrial control systems.
- Start up new concrete plants. Typically, 2 – 4 weeks at customer site.
- Training of customers employee’s in the operation of the concrete plant.
- Service existing plants (customers) typically 2 – 5 days on site.
- Telephone and online service including trouble shooting from our facility in Portland, Ore.
- Promotes service and parts to customers as needed.
- Completes service reports and expense reports.
- Helps in warehouse as needed, including pulling, crating and shipping parts.
- Take customer parts and service related calls as needed.
- Understands lean concepts and initiates improvements to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
- Follows written policies, procedures and best practices.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Education: Electrical Engineer, Electrician, or equivalent field experience.
- Experience: Three years of experience in a related field as field engineer with practical experience with electrical control systems and installation of these.
- Skills: Able and willing to work independently. Experience with troubleshooting electrical and mechanical. IT experience preferably experience with set-up of network components e.g. WLAN equipment. Not afraid of getting dirty. Don’t mind traveling alone – up to 2 – 4 weeks at a time. Good oral and written communication skills. Good computer skills; Good organizational skills. Ability to effectively communicate with customers at many levels.
- Requirements: Must be willing to travel in North America and possibly Europe as required. 100 to 150 plus days per year travel. Must be physically able to perform manual labor and lift a minimum of 100 pounds. Must be fluent in English. Must have good driving record. Must have or able to get a US passport.
Physical Demands
- Frequent long days in plant during service and/or installations.
- Lifting and climbing heights up 80 feet.
- Extensive travel.

Quality Control Technician

Job Title: Quality Control Technician
Job Purpose
Assist in performing routine tests on raw materials, in-process components, and final precast products.
Essential Functions
- Perform quality assessments on all products before yarding.
- Properly categorize all products that fail to meet quality expectations.
- Perform inspection and testing per ACI field and strength.
- Measure product dimensions, examine functionality, and compare the final product to specifications.
- Recommend improvements to the production process to ensure quality control.
- Document inspection outcomes, deficiencies, and waste products and report to QC and production management
- Resolve quality-related issues promptly regarding shipping and forklift.
- Recommend corrective/preventive actions to QC and Production to eliminate the causes of actual or potential non-conformance.
- Quality Control personnel are a function of the Production Department. Technicians must check that products meet the proper specifications without interfering with the production team’s ability to produce the product.
Physical Requirements
