A wave of electric vehicle charging station construction across the country is coming as interest in alternatives to gasoline-powered vehicles is on the rise and could heighten further due to a global spike in gasoline prices, The Associated Press reported this week.

Earlier this week, the New Jersey Board of Utilities awarded $1 million in grants to install EV charging stations in 24 state tourist areas. EV charging stations typically include a precast concrete base, which creates added opportunities for NPCA members.

New Jersey joins Washington, West Virginia, North Carolina, Ohio, Michigan and Maine as states that recently have announced plans to increase the number of available charging stations.
