NPCA professional staff attended the Iowa Onsite Waste Water Association’s 22nd Annual Conference to conduct education and exhibit. The conference took place in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, from Jan. 8-9.
This year, there were nearly 500 service providers, installers, manufacturers and other onsite wastewater industry professionals in attendance.
Director of Outreach and Technical Education Claude Goguen, P.E., LEED AP, presented two education sessions during the conference. The first session covered installation and inspection of precast tanks and had approximately 70 attendees. In the second session, Goguen offered a presentation on the topic of watertightness and durability to nearly 100 attendees.

NPCA also had a presence on the trade show floor. While manning NPCA’s wastewater booth, Goguen spoke to several conference attendees. In particular, Goguen had productive discussions with a few county regulators on the subject of tank inspection and installation.
One Iowa regulator presented an opportunity for NPCA to reach out to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources and offer assistance with language in their septic tank regulations.
Goguen noted that much of the booth traffic was generated by IOWWA’s tradeshow contest that involved collecting stamps from vendors. I feel like we should leave this out. Makes it sound like the only reason they came to our booth was to get a stamp.
Furthermore, Goguen reported that four other precast manufacturers had exhibits on the trade show floor.
