NPCA Director of Codes & Standards Eric Carleton with ASCE Director District IV Bob Cagle
Director of Codes and Standards Eric Carleton, P.E., traveled to Fairmont State University to speak at the 17th Annual FSU ASCE Summer Technical Conference. NPCA was invited to participate in the conference after connecting with the university’s concrete canoe team during the 2018 ASCE National Concrete Canoe Competition in San Diego, Calif.
Carleton presented on resilient precast concrete infrastructure to more than 30 regulators, specifiers, and FSU students and faculty. The conference was also well attended by department of transportation district engineers, inspectors and other industry technicians who were earning professional development hours.
The conference was an excellent networking opportunity. Carleton connected with Acting Commissioner of West Virginia Division of Highways and Deputy Secretary of WVDOT Jimmy Wriston, and ASCE District Region 4 Director Bob Cagle during the lunch hour.
According to Carleton, the annual conference is an excellent opportunity for local precast concrete technical representatives to connect with FSU faculty and take the lead on future participation via speaker or support roles.
