Director of Outreach & Technical Education Claude Goguen, P.E., traveled to the University of Akron on May 14 to conduct outreach at the Second Annual National Concrete Symposium. The event was hosted by the National Center for Education & Research on Corrosion & Materials Performance (NCERCAMP) and the University of Akron Corrosion Engineering program.
The event combined hands-on lessons and lecture style courses for architects, engineers, and construction professionals to earn continuing education credits and learn the latest in concrete innovation at the nation’s only advanced corrosion and materials performance research center.
Goguen conducted an AIA presentation on precast concrete & sustainability during the two-day event in Akron. Attendees learned about the raw ingredients that go into the manufacturing of precast concrete, the methods used in the plant to mix, pour, finish and cure concrete, as well as the sustainable attributes of precast concrete that can help a project obtain LEED points.
Goguen’s outreach efforts at the NCERCAMP event led to an opportunity for future collaboration with Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) team member Chris Bennett.
