Funded by the Optional Ballot, NPCA Director of Codes and Standards Eric Carleton, P.E., conducted a presentation on Jan. 9 at the Michigan Onsite Wastewater Conference & Exhibits in East Lansing, Mich.

NPCA Director of Codes and Standards Eric Carleton, P.E., recently attended the Michigan Onsite Wastewater conference.
The large and established conference was attended by over 300 pumpers, installers, sanitarians, county health and state officials. Carleton spoke on precast concrete tank installation during a one hour long, 3-part session titled “How to set a Septic Tank – Proper Septic Tank Installation.” There were an estimated 75 conference attendees present during the session.
Precast concrete tank quality was a hot discussion topic during the conference. Carleton speculated this was a topic of interest due to a lack of statewide onsite wastewater regulations or codes in Michigan. This issue highlights how NPCA’s Plant Certification program can improve quality assurance to benefit precast tank manufacturers throughout Michigan.
