NPCA Director of Outreach and Technical Services Claude Goguen, P.E., LEED AP, traveled to Des Moines, Iowa, Jan. 9-10 to make NPCA’s first-time appearance at the 21st Annual Iowa Onsite Wastewater Association Conference.
Goguen was a considerably active participant by providing education and exhibiting amidst the nearly 500 onsite service providers, installers, regulators, engineers and manufacturers. The conference was heavily peppered with opportunities to earn continuing education hours – a likely driving force for attendance.
Goguen offered two 60-minute presentations titled “Essentials for Proper Inspection and Installation of Precast Concrete Wastewater Structures” and “Safe Septic Tank Access.” The sessions were well attended as more than 100 attendees filled the banquet hall to capacity during both presentations.
In addition to offering two presentations, Goguen networked with attendees at the NPCA wastewater booth. There was a healthy presence of precast on the trade show floor including three precast tanks on display – one of which was provided by Wieser Concrete Products.
The opportunity to get in-tune with Iowa’s onsite industry provided Goguen a great deal of insight on the challenges local precast tank manufacturers face in Iowa’s climate of quality assurance.
