The 3rd Edition of NPCA’s Manual for Jointed Precast Concrete Pavement is now available for download. The comprehensive technical manual describes jointed precast concrete pavement systems in detail and presents a step-by-step guide that can be used by Departments of Transportation, system designers, precast concrete manufacturers, contractors and inspectors.
The manual’s 13 chapters include dozens of technical illustrations, charts and photographs that amplify the text and provide a roadmap for anybody who is designing, estimating, manufacturing, installing or inspecting a jointed precast concrete pavement system. The manual begins with a description of applications of the technology and explores designs, plan development, shop drawings, fabrication and pre-installation procedures. Also included are tips for developing specifications, system-specific installation processes, post-installation finishing procedures and maintenance requirements.
Published by NPCA in conjunction with the Precast Concrete Paving Slabs Product Committee, the manual was written by Peter Smith, P.E., and Mark B. Snyder, Ph.D., P.E., both experts in jointed precast concrete pavement systems.
