Since its inception in 1989, the National Precast Concrete Association Foundation has provided scholarships to undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in civil engineering, architectural and construction-related curricula. The Foundation’s philosophy is to introduce the features and benefits of precast concrete products to create a more educated specifying community.
Now in its 25th year, the Foundation has funded nearly 100 students from across North America in the pursuit of obtaining a degree in the building and construction fields.
We would like to congratulate the 2014 recipients of the NPCA Foundation scholarship:
Undergraduate Students
Brooks Morgan – Gainesville, Fla.
Sponsor: Ron Lindsay Jr., Lindsay Precast Southern Division
Brooks Morgan is pursuing a civil engineering degree at the University of Central Florida. His choice to pursue civil engineering comes from his strength in math and creative projects as well as his natural curiosity concerning how things work.
Christopher Lomaka – Henrico, Va.

Chris Lomaka’s career plans include becoming a project engineer for a commercial general contractor with a long-term goal of owning his own contracting company. In his free time, Chris is active in sports and supports the Special Olympics basketball league in Blacksburg, Va.
Maxine Kraft – Ft. Worth, Texas

Maxine is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in architecture at the University of Texas at Austin. Active in athletics, academic clubs and community service, she has held internships at Vong Design Collaborative in Paris, France and at Schwarz Hanson Architects in Ft. Worth.
Jared Schminnelpfenning – Tremont, Ill.

Jared will attend Purdue University this fall, where he will pursue a degree in construction engineering and management. After college, Jared’s career plans include immediately working in his field and possibly returning to school to pursue an advanced degree.
Marshall Bailey – Herron, Mich.

Marshall is a student at Michigan Technological University, where he is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering. He was drawn to the construction industry through his high school’s building trades club and earned his associate’s degree from the World Center of Concrete at Alpena Community College.
