Lifting precast concrete products requires careful planning to ensure safety and to avoid damaging the product. Some pieces can be elaborate in shape or in configuration, making it challenging to properly place lifting devices and use the right equipment to get a successful lift. In these situations, it’s important to know where the center of gravity of the piece is located. With this knowledge, the lifting points can be designed accordingly and the right equipment can be used to lift the product while minimizing lateral movement. Calculating the center of gravity can be challenging with some complicated configurations. During this webinar, we will use real examples of precast products and review a simple process to identify the location of the center of gravity.
At the conclusion of this webinar, you will be able to:
- Define areas of symmetry on various products
- Calculate location of center of gravity using a simple method
