The centerpiece of the annual convention, the Precast Marketplace features many of the top suppliers to the precast industry, featuring the latest products and services. You’ll have plenty of opportunities to tour the Marketplace, visit with exhibitors and learn about the latest equipment and tools for successful precast production.

Keynote Luncheon
Skyrocketing Steel and the Construction Economy
What’s behind the surging cost of reinforcing steel? How long will it last and how high will it go? These and other questions about material price increases and the 2009 forecast for the construction industry will be addressed by two expert panelists at the Keynote Luncheon.

Ken Simonson , chief economist for The Associated General Contractors of America, and one of the construction industry’s leading economists.

Robert Risser Jr., P.E. , president of the Concrete Steel Reinforcing Institute, the authoritative resource for information related to steel reinforced concrete construction.

Annual Business Breakfast and Top Gun Awards
The Annual Business Meeting includes the election of new officers and state-of-the association reports, along with the presentation of NPCA’s Top Gun Awards for membership development.

Chairman’s Banquet
Always a highlight of the Convention, the Chairman’s Banquet celebrates the traditions of NPCA and includes top-notch entertainment, the Robert E. Yoakum Award presentation, speeches by outgoing and incoming chairmen and recognition of the many member contributions that make NPCA such a dynamic association. It’s an evening of fun, fellowship and lasting memories.

NPCAEF Scholarship Golf Tournament
Plan to tee it up Thursday, Sept. 18 at the magnificent Loch March Golf and Country Club in Ottawa, Ontario at the next NPCA Educational Foundation Scholarship Golf Tournament. Carved from the stunning March Highlands, the Loch March course follows the natural topography of the rugged forest, with 18 challenging holes nestled among 300-acres of natural beauty. The course features something for every level of golfer, with lush fairways and impeccable greens. The event will include all the usual prizes, food and fun that you’ve come to expect at every Foundation golf outing

Plant Tour
What’s an NPCA event without a plant tour? The tradition continues in Ottawa, as we board the buses on Friday, Sept. 19 and travel to two area precast plants for a walk-through and a visit with plant management and staff. You’re sure to pick up a few ideas to bring back to your plant.

From Threat to Opportunity – How the Growing Sustainability Challenge Can Work To Your Advantage

While sustainability has been a relatively recent concept in the precast industry in North America, it has been a front-burner issue in Europe for several years. In this special program, NPCA presents Martin Clarke, chief executive of the British Precast Concrete Federation, to help wade through the sustainability debate. Clarke will outline how the British precast concrete industry is facing up to the mounting demand for sustainable products and how it fits with the approach of the cement, concrete and construction industry sector as well that of competing materials.
